Ahh another few days I have to recap! Keeping up with a blog isn't as easy as I thought it would be!
Saturday...
Saturday we decided to get up bright and early and take a bus to a beach about an hour away called Nettuno. We traveled with a group of 10 girls all fashion majors in our program as usual. The bus system was a little hard to figure out...again minimal english was spoken but through gestures and pointing we were able to figure out the way! The weather was beautiful once again, we have been so lucky to have such perfect weather here! We paid 3 euro to get some beach chairs and an umbrella and soon were all set up and ready to spend a lazy day in the sun. Not more than a second after we had put our bags down did we start getting swarmed by vendors. It was insane...vendor after vendor saying "ooo you want sunglasses..special price...special discount just for you" then the best vendor of all came up saying "shakalaka boom boom lady gaga you want bag?!?" Everyone could not stop laughing! He kept saying it over and over again and we kept saying no sorry we don't want your 5 euro "Ray Bans" or "Louis Vuitton" bags but he would not leave. Literally the vendors will stand there for a good 5 min repeating what they are saying and special discount even if you ignore them!! And then after that they'll say "ohh okay not now?? I'll come back later." If vendors were to harass people to buy stuff in America as much as they do in Italy they're would be multiple fist fights! Especially in NY, New Yorkers have no patients for anything especially if they are trying to relax on the beach!
The water was very calm and shallow. Most of us waded in right of the bat, because it was so hot and perfect out! I decided to bring my running stuff to the beach so after about a peanut butter sandwich and an hour of sun, I through on my running stuff, put my headphones in and headed down the beach. The run was amazing!! Running next to the water was so refreshing before I knew it I was about 2 miles down the coast! I looped around and ran back completing a 4.5 mile run and feeling amazing! Probably the best idea I have had all trip! I went racing into the water after because it was really hot out and spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. Before we left to go back to Florence we walked around to check out if there were any good shops. We didn't find anything we really liked and the only purchase that end up being made was on gelato...you can never get enough gelato! I honestly think I've had one every day since I've been here! Before we knew it, it was time to head back on the bus back to Florence. As soon as we got back we had to get ready to go out to the Florence for fun dinner and wine at the club Blanca. We took another bus over to Blanca where we were greeted by a buffet of all you can eat Italy food. I happened to be starving so I filled my plate up twice and loved the food! Blanca was closed off for us from 8-11 and it was all you can drink wine within those hours as well. During the dinner we met so many people once again from scattered place in the US. I met a group from Jersey and a guy that goes to Northeastern and knows my friend Megan...crazy coincidences!! One of the Jersey boys has a brother that is a Freshmen at TCNJ the same school my sister goes too!....another crazy coincident that proves just how small the world really is! So for 3 hours we ate, drank wine, and chatted. Michael and Greg (two fashion majors in our program) kept us entertained the whole time! Those two could have a reality show they're so funny! A bunch of us also decided to dance in the middle of the dancefloor even through the music was pretty awful and everyone was just staring...but hey they did put on "dancing queen" by Abba and who can really resist dancing to that song?? At 11 the club got opened to the public and it became packed within hours!! There was so many people in the club it was insane! and once again they were from EVERYWHERE! Taylor and I decided to venture off to go make friends and meet random people again. We ended up trying to be best friends with one of the waiters in attempts to get the wifi password...it was a fail. The next people we met were a group of 3 italian guys from Florence. 2/3 spoke broken english...the third did not speak a word of english! We communicated through google imaging the words the others did understand. We taught the guys the word "ratchet" and in exchange they taught us the phrase "Vaffanculo" and we ended up also learning the word for sheep. For some reason they were calling their friend who spoke no english sheep because he was shy...idk?? but to get us to understand the word sheep they googled imaged a picture of a sheep which the three italian guys thought was hilarious. They were also chain smokers so they kept offering us cigarettes which I refused and then proceeded to google image smoking kills and black lungs and show them that they were bad hahah which also made them laugh. We spent most of the night talking to them and before we knew it, it was getting close to 2 and we decided to get back on the bus and head home. When we got home I decided to make what I thought was mozzarella sticks for everyone. I was so excited that we had them and went all out heating up marinara sauce and all! When the "mozzarella sticks" were finished Taylor took a bite of one and said "you know these really aren't very cheesy"...next Amanda takes a bite "yeah they kind of taste like chickeny"...Olivia "oh yeah they're definitely chicken. They were chicken sticks...I was livid. Vegetarian strikes out again! I was so hungry too! The only logical thing for me left to eat at that point ended up being crackers and marinara sauce. We ended up going to bed around 4 and were exhausted!
Sunday...
Today was a lazy day. We slept in, made breakfast and hung out in the apartment. We were productive and did decided to do a load of laundry. Since I always put all my clothes together to wash them at home I decided to throw my white shirt and underwear in with a few things Olivia and Taylor had to wash...When the laundry was done I got the pleasant surprise of now a new blue shirt and blue underwear...perfect. So lesson learned on why to separate darks and lights. Mom I know you're reading this so please help me turn my shirt back to white!! Since we spent no money out last night we decided to reward ourselves with a trip to the diner, the good ole American diner! We went crazy at the dinner! We all got burgers or veggie burger in my case and french fries and of course I needed my daily ice cream fixing and got a chocolate shake. We couldn't move after the meal! We were so full but it was sooo good!! The good thing about Florence is our apartment is so far from everything that we get a nice 20 min to walk off the meal on the way home. Upon immediate arrival to the apartment we all went back into vegetable mode and lounged around on our computers. Before we knew it Olivia told us the Jersey boys we had met the night before were stopping by to hangout. Taylor and I were already in our pjs, all makeup off, glasses on...perfect attire for visitors...but we sucked it up because the guys are very nice! They hung out for a while and everyone was out by a reasonable time because tomorrow we all have school. wooo in the words of Wesley Sproul "HAPPY SCHOOL" were on to our second week of classes.
